I have so many dreams in my life and so many things that I want to do, that it both excites me and stresses me out! I have so many things to do on my to-do list and I tell myself I am going to do them, but somehow I convince myself that I’ll probably start doing them tomorrow. But honestly, I never really get started until the panic monster pops into my mind one day, right before the final assessment.
And then I eff things up. I know I am capable of doing so much more yet all my potential remains untapped. Can you relate? Do I sound like you? I get it. Humans, we are all the same yet so different. Now speaking of dreams and passions, I’m going to give you 4 practical ways to get your work done. Of course, I’m going to ask you to be tougher on yourself because getting things done is NOT a cakewalk. The tougher you are on yourself, the easier life becomes for you.
So, get ready to explore some real tips to get your work done.
1. Take Control of Yourself
Well, I want you to do a simple thing. Touch your nose. No, seriously do not resume reading this until you do that. You know what you did? You just passed a signal to your brain to do something.
So why do you say that you can’t do something probably because you are nearly upset? How can you allow things to take control of you when you are in total control of yourself?
Because, can I be real with you? You can do every goddamn thing you ever wanted to do only when you start taking ownership of yourself. Touch your nose or complete a task which you should be doing, it’s the same. You just have to pass the signal to your brain. No one has more power on your mind than you.
2. Visualize your Dreams
I hear people complaining about things not going their way. They say that the world is against them. I just wanna tell them, “Sweetie, the world isn’t against you. Your excuses are against you.” And, it is high time you need to dissolve those excuses and get perhaps get more productive instead of sleeping that one extra hour because it is a Sunday. “You, my friend should be working so hard that sleep should seem like a guilty pleasure to you.” You understand the point I’m trying to make?
And one way to beat procrastination is to visualize your dreams. Imagine yourself holding the house cup you always dreamed of? Feels good, doesn’t it? Now starting acting towards achieving it!
3. Surround Yourself with like-minded People
Maybe you would have heard about this several times or if you haven’t, allow me to illuminate you, my friend. Great! You need constant motivation to get work done and if you are busy in hanging out with people who spend most of their time taking ugly selfies with you then what are you doing my friend?
You need to find people to work with, who work harder than you. Like when you are in a room you feel guilty because they are working so hard and you are like, “Holy crap! I need to get my work done.”
4. Fix a flexible GamePlan
Suppose you need to navigate a new place, what will you do? Simple, use a map. Right? Now, when you need to reach your goals you obviously need to map your progress? And, how will you do that? Simple, set a to-do list for yourself.
Break your long term goals like maybe, writing a book in form of short term goals which are achievable during the duration of 24 hours. Make it a point that you will write at least 3 pages every day. Fix a deadline.
Now, let us focus on the term ‘Flexible’ which means that your schedule should be easily adaptable to changes. Suppose you got a volleyball match in a few minutes? Certainly, I wouldn’t expect you to stay in your room and write your book exactly at the same time. However, this doesn’t mean since things did not work as planned you should stop doing them. Get back on your feet with Plan B.
